Model Home Design
Through my blogs, I’ve introduced you to our First-Class Selection Gallery and the talented Selection Gallery Consultants that work with each customer to help create their new home, as well as a few of our product reps, including, MOEN, Mohawk, AZEK and Tamko, with more to follow in the coming weeks.Let's switch gears for a minute and talk about our model home design journey and the team who works so hard to bring us our beautifully decorated model homes! Have you ever wondered how our model homes are so intricately decorated and who exactly are the people behind the gorgeous décor?
Let's meet our brilliant Design Team!
This is the hardworking mother and daughter trio behind every décor detail in our model homes, from the paint color, to the furniture in each room, including the minute details of coffee table and dresser adornments. They have been working together since 2012 and have hit a decade of making our Berks model homes as utterly inviting as they are! They have perfected their craft to know what our customers want and need. They don’t just jump onto the next trend, which would be easy, but work diligently to create a warm and inviting model home environment that meets the needs and expectations of a Berks customer.
As you know, Berks Homes is a family owned and operated business. And our Design Team is part of that family.

Katie:
- Has worked at Berks Homes for her entire adult life, in a variety of departments but will never stop decorating the model homes because it is the most fun!
- Her role in the design team is the selections/paint and furniture
- A fun fact is that if you ask her the color of anything in a model or where we purchased the furniture she will most likely be able to get you the answer… and in case anyone wants the highlights – it’s Sherwin Williams paint and furniture from Target, Wayfair and Ashley Furniture
Mattie:
- The artist of the group
- She brings a flair and an eye for the most current trends and how to turn them into a Berks Homes look
- Her role is to take the tone set with the style of home, selections and furniture and buying and placing all the finishing touches to turn it into a place you could picture yourself living
- If you turn a corner into a room and see an adorable figurine or picture of an animal, Mattie is definitely the one that found it and put it in the home to make you smile
Patsy:
- Homemaker and woodworking/crafter extraordinaire, can make the coolest projects from things most would think are unusable materials
- One of the most recent model homes included all of the following creations - a potting bench, 4x8 mirror, 3D wooden wall hanging, a walnut bathtub shelf and a handmade headboard
- Her hardest job is getting her daughters to be able to keep up with her...she would work 20 hours a day if they let her!
- Her role is to pay attention to all the little details, and there are no curtains or linens that go unsteamed, all tags and stickers are carefully removed, and all the finishing touches are in place before she is done
The Mother/Daughter Trio!
The very first model home this team decorated was our Holly, in March 2012, located in the Springfield Community, followed by the Sycamore Lane floor plan, July 2012.
Check out the following two photos, taken just 2 months apart, from 2 separate communities. You can see that the décor and color styles differ, based on the area and house type, which aligns with their goal of meeting our customer’s styles.

As the years have passed, our design team has grown and evolved to support the business and our customer’s needs. Berks Homes strives to create a home that “just feels right”. And that’s the philosophy behind our designs and interior décor.
