Home Decorating Tips for Summer!

Summer is coming at us fast! Now is the time to start thinking about getting your home summer ready.

It may not feel like it right now, but the temperatures will surely soar sooner, rather than later, so my goal is to help you decorate in a cool, refreshing way, while easily bringing a summer vibe to your home.

How do you do this? Incorporate light and bright colors that will give your home a breezy, relaxing feel.

Let's get into it.

Here are my suggested decorating tips that scream summer.

  • Lighten Up Your Fabrics. Think curtains, pillows and throw blankets. Pillow covers are an easy and relatively inexpensive way to reuse the pillows you already have. Choose a nice, light color like an ocean blue or white or go big with a sunshiny yellow or turquoise and bright pinks. Take down those heavy, light blocking curtains and replace with a nice crisp white, light fabric. Put away those heavy throw blankets you cuddled up with all winter and replace them with a lightweight blanket to match your pillows. This goes for your bedding too. Opt for a nice coverlet, which is a thin blanket that is similar to a bedspread but not used for warmth.
  • Decorate with Plants and Flowers. Bring in pops of color through potted plants and flowers, herbs or even fresh clippings in a pretty vase. They will not only add to the look of your home, but also offer a clean, refreshing fragrance and help purify the air.
  • Create an Outdoor Living Space. You don't have to just focus on the interior of your home for summer, but also the outdoors. It's time to dust off your outdoor furniture, scrub the grill and hang the fairy lights on the deck or patio. Add some pillows to your outdoor furniture and an outdoor carpet for a homey outdoor living space.
  • Add a Summer Wreath. Let's get that winter wreath down and replace it with a flower wreath filled with yellows, pinks, purples and greens. This is an easy way to add a bright, summery and inviting feel to your home.

If you follow these fun and easy tips, you'll be able to transform your home into your very own summer oasis.
