Finding Your Perfect Fit!

Before choosing a home to build, you need to make the decision on whether to build a "starter" home or your "forever" home.

A starter home is typically an entry-level, more affordable side of the coin that meets your current needs. This is a home that you do not plan to stay in long-term. On the other hand, a forever home is a long-term investment that not only meets your current needs, but will meet your future needs, as well. This is a home that will account for family growth and lifestyle changes.

There is a lot to consider when making that important decision and it can be a challenge.

In this blog, I'll explore the factors to consider and help you navigate this choice.

The First Step. Determine your current wants and long-term needs. What does this mean? Are you looking for a smaller, more affordable home that as your family, and/or needs grow, you can move up to the next step? Or do you want to make the long-term commitment and find your forever home first and grow into it as your needs change and grow?

Finances. Explore your current financial situation, including income and savings. This will help determine how much house you can afford. Don't forget to think about potential future expenses such as home repairs, increasing property taxes, etc. This all factors in to whether you can comfortably build a smaller starter home or a larger forever home.

The Future. If your career offers the opportunity of relocating, then it may be best to start your home journey in a starter home. But if you are planning to set down your roots, start a family or begin a business that ties you to the area, then maybe taking the leap into your forever home works for you.

In the end, the choice between a starter home and a forever home depends on your personal situation. Be sure to weigh all the pros and cons and talk with a professional.
