LET'S TALK ABOUT UNIQUE GUEST BEDROOM DECORATING IDEAS!

Whether you're a recent "empty-nester" or you simply have a spare room that you are using as a guest bedroom, there are many relatively "easy" ways to make the room fun and unique to welcome overnight guests into your home.

Utilize the Bed as the Focal Point

Choose a headboard that is a statement piece. Think DIY and refurbish an old one with some fresh paint. Doing this you can choose anything from an invigorating bold and bright color to a soothing fresh white, setting the mood for your design.

Coordinating Accessories

Choose throw pillows, extra blankets, bedding and carpets to pull the look together. I like to find a picture or a pillow with a variety of colors in it and pull one of the more subtle colors to match my bedding and carpets. I don't choose the most prominent color.

Pillows!

These can make or break a good night's sleep. Keep plenty of pillows, both soft and firm. This also creates the look, as they are strategically displayed on the bed, of a plush, cozy space.

Extras

These are the fun accent pieces that really make the room "extra" inviting. Add some plants, magazines, novels or candles. Whether they ever get used or not, doesn't matter. These pieces can add a feeling of "home" to your room.

Create a Theme Room

Want to go "all in"? Pick a theme and run with it. I'm thinking the beach. Choose light blue hues for the walls and bedding. Add in beach décor with pillows and wall art. You can even add a sound machine that plays the soothing sounds of the ocean. That's it! There's your theme room.

There are endless possibilities to turn your spare room into a unique and personalized guest room with special touches. I hope these ideas have inspired you as you plan and transform your spare room into a work of art.
