Not long ago, John and Sharon lived in northern New Jersey, browsing resale properties—never imagining they could afford a new construction home. Yet a timely smartphone notification led them to Berks Homes.

“We honestly never thought we could afford to build a new home,” Sharon explained. The couple had been searching with a realtor’s help, hoping to find something within their reach. 

“My son had the alerts on his phone for new construction,” she shared, adding, “He’s the one who originally found this area where Berks was continuing to build.”

John and Sharon, who lived three hours away in North Jersey, did most of their initial planning over Zoom.

A space to connect and gather

The building process led up to an unforgettable moment. John and Sharon still remember the first time they put their key into the door of their completed home, with Sharon recalling, “It was just like, ‘Wow, we can’t believe this is ours.’”

The Sassafras floorplan offered features they had never experienced before—a private bathroom suite, a walk-in closet, and the convenience of second-floor laundry, to name a few. 

“Just a lot of things that are just special,” Sharon reflected. Their Selection Gallery experience with our team member Angie also stood out. “She made everything so organized,” John and Sharon explained. “Her expertise guided us.”

Settling into their new home, they have found countless ways to enjoy each room. The open kitchen quickly became a hub for family gatherings, and the tranquil flex room is now their go-to spot for afternoon coffee with views of the nearby farm. “When we first moved in, we didn’t know where we wanted to sit because every place had a beautiful view,” Sharon remarked.

John beautifully summarized their experience: "Home is where the essence of your life is. It’s where you entertain and have family over. It’s your refuge and relaxation.”
